The hardest part about finding something to post each day was finding something that lifted me, rather than depressing me. If I wanted to write a blog about things that made me angry or hurt, I would have a much easier time of it. That's the whole point of this, though. I am my own worst enemy, and I have to force myself to see the good in the world.
I've been lazy and have a few post ideas backed up here. It's all great stuff, and I know it will totally be worth it to talk through everything.
Traditional Catholicism is Winning.
Wow, I really needed to read that today! I found the article a few weeks ago, but didn't get around to posting about it until now.
I hope to see a growth in faith in the years ahead.

Easter Sunday

Yesterday was the last day of Lent, so this is the last hopeful item of Lent: The resurrection of Jesus! Really, that is the highest form of hope.
I had a wonderful and exhausting day with my family. Yesterday was a glorious day of Easter Egg dyeing, and we have some beautiful hardboiled eggs (and some stained fingers) to show for it. To begin this lovely day, we had Easter breakfast with David's family. Then, our nephews helped us with some Rockband songs, and we headed to my aunt's house for our annual Easter celebration. The heavy storms prevented us from having our traditional hollow-egg-brawl, but I'm sure we can save them for next year. All 30 dozen hollow and dyed eggs.
Here are the 'special' eggs I made:
I followed a combination of directions from these three sites, and used yellow onion skins for the brown, and purple cabbage for the purple-black eggs.

Feminism

A few weeks ago, I was walking through my university's student center, and there was a booth set up for 'feminism awareness.' They had a poster with multiple blocks of text, each defining a different 'type' of feminist. Included were liberal, radical, and social feminism. I read through the descriptions to see if I fell into any of their categories. According to wikipedia, there are about as many types of feminism as there are political stances. I think of myself as a kind of a feminist, but I don't know if there is a category for me.
However, any person who believes in the strength, beauty, and importance of women must be against abortion.

This is an amazing video!
The Archbishop of Washington answers questions on MSNBC about the HHS mandate.
One reporter asks what he thinks of the 'majority' of Catholic women using contraceptives. She asks if he still considers them Catholic.
"Of course they're Catholic!" He says. "I don't want to shock you. I don't want to shock you... but there are Catholics ... ... in jail !!"
Of course, we're all sinners.
He says that these women would not (should not?) say that "because I don't live up to all the rules of my church, the government should be able to silence my church."
I think I am most impressed that a major news site was willing to discuss this topic fairly on air.

Be Meek, Be Humble
Oh, I am just so mad right now! I made the mistake of reading articles and comments from a 'feminist' website and I just dragged myself down. This is exactly what I've been trying to avoid all Lent. I'm not getting any of the cleaning done that I meant to do tonight, and now I've made myself angry too!
Enough, enough. I know just the thing.
When I started this blog, I told my husband I would write a post on the Beatitudes. He quoted them to me one day when I started crying because of the hurtful, hateful, and terrible things i had read online. I felt hated by people who didn't even know me. I felt personally attacked for believing things that are so important to me. I felt completely misunderstood and insignificant.

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Right now I hunger and I thirst for righteousness. I feel persecuted, and insulted. I am comforted by these words, because I know I am not alone. This was written almost 2000 years ago with the intended audience being new Christian converts, just beginning to face severe and violent persecution. Their hardships involved isolation, pain, suffering, and death for their faith. I know that I won't suffer at all in comparison.
For the last 2000 years there have been Christians persecuted for their faith, and this year is no different. We will come out stronger, and we will never relent in our love for God and man.

College Students Speak Up

Here's another video (I'm on a youtube streak).
It's long, but totally worth the 6 minutes. Here, female college students speak up for their rights. One girl says, "I feel not only hurt but offended - personally offended - and attacked for me as a human being, a woman, and a Catholic."
Another says "Treasure the way your body works, because it's a beautiful gift."

A little repetitive w/ the Margaret Sanger clips, but it's amazing to see Obama promising to protect conscience.
